POST DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP

 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for Post-Doctoral fellowship under the project Strengthening Numeracy in Early Years of primary education through Professional Development of Teachers, in the department of Curriculum and Teaching Studies at Chancellor College. The fellowship is for two years and includes research grant for academic research at the University of Malawi, stipend in terms of salary equivalent to University of Malawi lecturer level, and opportunities for participating in national and international conferences.

 

Working on full time basis under the guidance of a senior scholar (mentor) in a vibrant project team, the successful candidate will be required to:

  1. Conduct advanced research in the area of teaching and learning numeracy in early years of primary education.

  2. Assist his/her mentor in undertaking tasks including designing and developing research projects in the area of numeracy.

  3. Engage in research dissemination and stakeholder engagement activities, including publication of manuscripts in peer-reviewed academic journals, books and conference presentations, among others.

  4. Write research reports and proposals.

  5. Engage in relevant professional development activities.

  6. Assist with other duties of the project as may be assigned by the mentor from time to time.

 

Candidates should have a PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematics Education from a recognised University and should have graduated within the past 5 years. Candidates with at least two years of teaching experience in Malawi schools will have an added advantage.
