Professor Wapulumuka Oliver Mulwafu: Is the Battle on Conservation of Natural Resources in Malawi Winnable? Perspectives from Historical Knowledge

Professor Edrinnie Elizabeth Lora-Kayambazinthu: Language Maintenance and Language Shift in Malawi: The Family’s Role

An Inaugural Lecture, like a graduation ceremony, is an event of great significance in the calendar of an accredited University. Through it, the University is able to recognize the achievements of those who have risen to the highest academic rank and to introduce them to the nation at large. In particular, through the carefully researched addresses delivered by the senior academic members being recognized, the University is able to interface with the wider Malawian society on matters of national development.

In this respect, the inaugural lecture acts as an occasion when a cross-section of the nation convenes to reflect on the mission of the University, including the University’s role in national development. Through these lectures, the esteemed professors highlight topical issues in the field of their specialty as part of knowledge dissemination.
