UNIMA at Kamuzu Academy: Inspiring Career Paths
The University of Malawi continues to demonstrate its commitment to inspiring young minds and shaping career aspirations through meaningful engagement with students. This was evident on 14th March 2026, when the University participated in a vibrant Career Day at Kamuzu Academy in Kasungu.
Alongside other institutions, the University engaged with students, providing guidance and insights into its academic programmes, campus life, and career opportunities. These interactions aimed to equip learners with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their future academic and professional paths.
The annual event brought together students from the host institution and surrounding schools, creating a valuable platform for exploring diverse career options and engaging directly with professionals from various fields.
In his opening remarks, the Headteacher at Kamuzu Academy, Mr. Andrew Lambert-Knott, emphasized the importance of early career guidance, noting that such initiatives play a crucial role in helping students understand academic pathways and the wide range of professions available to them. He further urged the students to make the most of the event and speak to as many of the guests as possible to get more information.
“Events like these are incredibly important,” he said. “For our Form 5 and Form 6 students, this is a time when many important decisions lie ahead, decisions about university programmes, career paths, and the many possibilities that the future may hold.”
A number of organizations participated in the event, including the Malawi Defence Force and the Malawi Medical Council, alongside several public and private universities. Representatives from the University of Malawi included Dr Jonas Mwatseteza, Director of Students Affairs, Ms Monica Khombe, Head of Marketing and Communications and Ms Roseby Makawa, a lecturer and University Warden.
