Young Minds Energized by UNIMA Experience
Excitement and curiosity filled the air as about 300 students from three Malawian secondary schools set foot on the University of Malawi (UNIMA) campus for an inspiring educational visit on 6th February, 2026.
Learners from Henry Henderson Secondary School of Excellence (Blantyre), Chisapi Private Secondary School (Blantyre), and Orama Private School (Mangochi), visited the university to explore the academic programmes on offer and experience the environment that continues to shape future leaders. The visit highlighted UNIMA not only as a centre of academic excellence, but also as a source of inspiration for young minds with big dreams.
Mr. Grey Chasuka, the Marketing Officer for UNIMA, took the students through the university’s diverse academic programmes, entry requirements, and application processes. His presentation provided clear guidance on the pathways available and equipped the learners with practical information on how to prepare for admission.
Adding to the inspiration, Ms. Roseby Makawa, University Warden, delivered a motivational talk encouraging the students to set clear goals and remain focused on their ambitions. She challenged them to believe in their potential and to view education as a powerful tool for transforming their lives and communities.
The event was also attended by Ms. Monica Khombe, Head of Marketing and Communications, and Mr. James Kaliati, Assistant Students Welfare Officer.
The learners also enjoyed a tour of various departments across the campus, including the UNIMA library and the chemistry laboratories, among others, gaining first-hand appreciation of the university’s facilities and the vibrant academic environment.
Speaking during the visit, one of the teachers from HHS, Mr. Moses Chanza, commended the university management for opening its doors to aspiring secondary school students. “Every time we bring our learners to UNIMA, we see a shift in their mindset. The exposure motivates them to dream bigger and take their studies more seriously. This is not our first visit, and certainly not our last. We value this partnership and will continue bringing our students here for such transformative experiences,” he said.
Students left the campus motivated and enlightened, with a strong desire to eventually walk the halls of UNIMA themselves.
