Profile
Omega Zimba is a lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Malawi. He earned his BSc in Mathematics and Statistics in 2019 at the University of Malawi and his MSc in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Stavanger, Norway, where he developed a strong interest in algebraic geometry. His MSc thesis, supervised by Prof. Martin Gulbrandsen, focused on the unicity of a blowdown. Since 2025, he has been a PhD student at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, working on biquadratic descent for quartic field extensions under the supervision of Prof. Sophie Marques and Prof. Florian Luca. His research interests include algebraic/birational geometry, Galois theory and commutative algebra.
