Academic Staff Vacancy - Mathematical Sciences Department

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant positions in the Mathematical Sciences Department at Chancellor College in Zomba as follows:

  1. Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Actuarial Science (2 positions)

Qualifications & Attributes

Applicants should possess the following qualification and attributes:

  1. A master’s degree or PhD in Actuarial science or related field, with at least a credit first degree from a recognized University.

  2. For Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer, applicants must also show evidence of engagement in research. Teaching experience at a University or comparable institution, leadership skills and evidence of service to the community and the profession will be added advantages.

  1. Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Mathematics (on Contract)

Qualifications & Attributes

Applicants should possess the following qualification and attributes:

  1. A master’s degree or PhD in Mathematics, with at least a credit first degree from a recognized University.

  2. For Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer, applicants must also show evidence of engagement in research. Teaching experience at a University or comparable institution, leadership skills and evidence of service to the community and the profession will be added advantages.

  1. Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer/Lecturer in Statistics

Qualifications & Attributes

Applicants should possess the following qualification and attributes:

  1. A master’s degree or PhD in statistics, with at least a credit first degree from a recognized University.

  2. For Professor/Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer, applicants must also show evidence of engagement in research. Teaching experience at a University or comparable institution, leadership skills and evidence of service to the community and the profession will be added advantages.

 

Duties

Specific responsibilities shall include, but not limited to:

  1. Teaching, setting and timely marking examinations for undergraduate

  2. Conducting research in the area of specialization

  3. Supervising undergraduate student projects within the Department

  4. Participating in all academic and professional activities of the Department

  5. Carrying out any duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.
