Accountant (Management Accounts UM8) (1 position)

Qualifications and Attributes

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional qualifications in accounting or related fields.

  • 6 years’ relevant work experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Preparing and consolidating management/project accounts and financial statements.

  2. Approving journal vouchers and conducting reconciliations.

  3. Monitoring expenditure to ensure that expenditure is within approved budget/projects/grants.

  4. Monitoring grant periods and ensuring that grant phase-out financial requirements are adequately met and grants are smoothly phased out.

  5. Reviewing and consolidating financial reports in accordance with internal/donor requirements in a timely manner.

  6. Generating financial analysis on grant financial information that will provide management with information for decision-making.

  7. Monitoring and ensuring payments are made in compliance with requirements.

  8. Facilitating smooth audits by providing accurate information in a timely manner and implementing audit recommendations.

  9. Coordinating, monitoring and preparing management accounts.

  10. Analyzing expenditures in order to identify variances for the control of budgets and exploring potential problems with line managers.

  11. Facilitating budget preparation and expenditure reporting.

  12. Producing cash flow projections.

  13. Managing accounting information system, fixed assets register and evaluations.
