VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT- RE-ADVERTISEMENT SECURITY OFFICER

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position of Security Officer to be engaged on a two-year contract. Applicants must have a Diploma in Security Studies or its equivalent from a recognized institution, those with a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Security Studies will have an added advantage.

REQUIREMENTS

Must be commissioned officers from Malawi Defence Force or Malawi Police Service with at least three years of working experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful applicant shall carry out the following duties and responsibilities:

(a) Patrol campus grounds ensuring all security posts are manned with appropriate security personnel as provided for in the security contract

(b) identify security risks and prepare reports on the same to the Registrar and ensure buildings, unoccupied rooms, external doors, car parks, and security systems are safe and secured

(c) Act as the first point of contact between the service providers supervising personnel and the University

(d) Provide advice to staff and students on security and safety issues

(e) Investigate all security incidences in coordination with the service provider and the police where necessary

(f) Provide weekly/monthly reports on the attendance of security personnel and other security issues

(g) Enforce university security regulations by ensuring that the service provider has full information of the same

(h) Undertake the general duties to provide security support to staff, students, and visitors as directed
