UNIMA to host 5th International Conference on Earth and Environmental Sciences
The University of Malawi (UNIMA) will partner with the University of Zululand (South Africa) and Chang'an University (China) to host the prestigious 5th International Conference on Earth and Environmental Sciences (ICEES 2027) in August, 2027.
UNIMA’s hosting of the ICEES 2027 is strategically important for the University and the wider Southern African region, serving as a clear recognition of UNIMA as one of the international leading higher education institutions (HEIs). The conference, which traditionally attracts numerous international scholars, will enhance UNIMA’s visibility and promotion as a destination for scientific conferences.
The event will bring together global scientists, policymakers and industry experts to address critical environmental challenges, water security and sustainable development goals. The ICEES is a biannual conference and was previously held in Richards Bay, South Africa from 11-14 August 2026 and Durban in South Africa from 17-25 August 2025.
UNIMA has previously hosted similar conferences like the annual WaterNet Symposium in 2006 and 2014, and the Social Economic Consequences of Water and Climate Change in Tropical Africa (SOCOCA) Conference in 2012.
