VICE PRINCIPAL AND DEANS MARKET CHANCO ACROSS THE COUNTRY
Chancellor College embarked on career talks to secondary schools in Malawi from 18th to 24th October 2017. The Vice-Principal, Faculty Deans and the Registrar’s office took turns and made presentations and motivational talks in the North, Central and Southern Regions of Malawi. Particularly, in the Northern Region, the centres were in Karonga and Mzuzu, in the Central Region the centres were in Lilongwe, Mchinji and Ntcheu, and in the Southern Region the centres were in Mangochi, Blantyre, Chikhwawa and Mulanje.
The main purpose of the talks was to assist form 4 students and those that had just had their Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) results out get to know the programmes that are offered at the College, what subjects they need for the various programmes and how they can match this with their desired careers. The talks were an eye opener to students that had converged at the selected centres that were arranged with the help of the Education Division Managers. Chancellor College intends to have this as an annual event as it has discovered how bad it is when a student makes a wrong choice due to lack of information and therefore they want all students to have informed choices based on the correct information.
According to the Dean of Social Science, Dr. Phillip Kapulula, the tours have also been an eye opener in the sense that many people in both the rural and urban areas of the country do not know about the programmes offered at Chancellor College. In addition, some of the students have misconceptions about the enrollment procedure into the university.
