High Commissioner of India visits UNIMA

In a significant step toward strengthening academic and cultural collaboration, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Malawi, Professor Samson Sajidu today, 8th September, 2025, welcomed His Excellency Mr. Amararam Gujar, the High Commissioner of India to Malawi, for a brief meeting at the university office. The meeting marked a promising moment in fostering international partnerships and enhancing the global profile of the university.

The High Commissioner, who is currently on a mission to visit universities across Malawi, outlined several key objectives for his visit to UNIMA. Among them was the proposal to establish an Indian Corner within the university library, where he plans to donate 150 books. This initiative aims to promote greater understanding of Indian culture, history, art, economy, and other academic areas among students and staff members.

Additionally, the High Commissioner discussed the potential for student and staff exchange programmes between UNIMA and various universities in India. This initiative aligns well with UNIMA’s ongoing efforts to enhance its internationalisation and global engagement.

The visit by His Excellency Mr. Amararam Gujar not only highlighted the growing diplomatic ties between Malawi and India but also opened new doors for collaboration, cultural exchange, and academic growth. UNIMA is committed to nurturing this partnership and translating it into tangible benefits for its academic community.
