Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor / Professor in Theatre Design and Technical Production

Qualifications and Attributes

Applicants should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Candidates applying for the Lecturer position must hold a Master’s or PhD in Drama and Theatre, along with a Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum award of credit.

  • For the positions of Senior Lecturer, Associate Professor, or Professor, candidates must have a strong record of publications in their area of expertise and demonstrate initiative in research, community outreach, and engagement, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above.

  • Candidates must have proven experience in teaching or practical theatre design and technical production, preferably in higher education or industry settings.

  • Demonstrated expertise in areas such as set design, lighting, sound design, costume design, or stage management. Applicants must provide a visual portfolio of their work.

  • Strong understanding of current trends and technologies in theatre production.

  • A commitment to inclusivity and fostering diverse perspectives in the creative arts.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses in theatre design and technical production.

  • Developing, planning, and delivering course content that combines theoretical principles with practical application.

  • Supervising student projects, internships, and productions, ensuring high standards of technical and artistic achievement.

  • Participating in departmental research, curriculum development, and community outreach initiatives.

  • Maintaining and managing technical equipment and resources to support student learning.

  • Collaborating with other faculty members on interdisciplinary projects and productions.

  • Contributing to the department's strategic goals, including promoting innovation and industry relevance in theatre education.
